Ballet & Contemporary Dance collaborations

Galya Sky’s connection to movement and music began early in life, with formative years spent studying both disciplines in parallel. While she ultimately chose to pursue music as her primary path, her fascination with dance led her to find a unique sweet spot in music-making, especially when it becomes part of a dance production.

This embodied understanding of story-telling through movement has found its voice through an ongoing collaboration with composer and music producer Nicholas Thayer, whose commissioned works span renowned choreographers and companies. Together, they have created music for FAMILIAR (2021 & 2022), choreographed and directed by Nicola Wills; ENTROPY (2021) for the Ballet Zurich Junior Company, choreographed by Craig Davidson; and IN:FINITE, a contemporary dance work.

Silhouette of a cello submerged underwater, with light streaming around it creating an ethereal glow. The cello's contours are emphasized by the contrast between its dark form and the swirling lit water.
